  About the Clan MacCord

What is the...
Clan MacCord Society Inc.?

Clan MacCord Society, Inc.
is an international organization incorporated in the state of California. It operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable and educational organization.

The Society is totally separate and distinct from any other MacCord/McCord family associations or organizations.

Its purpose is to promote and preserve our Scottish heritage, culture, and kinship among all associated McCord surname families as well as with the general public.

The Society will assemble, maintain, and disseminate information regarding family origins and genealogy as well as general history and social/cultural customs as they relate to Celtic, Scottish, and Northern Ireland heritage. As funds become available the Society will provide arts and culture scholarships for the study and promotion of Scottish heritage subjects as well as Scottish related music and dance training.

The Society will actively participate in Scottish Highland Games and Celtic Festivals across the US and elsewhere to provide a venue to educate and disseminate information to both family members and the public regarding our Scottish heritage. Membership in the Society is open to MacCord family and its surname variants such as McCord, McCourt, McChord, McCoard, M’Cord, Cord, Corde, and anyone who has an interest in Scottish and/or Northern Ireland heritage.

The Clan operates under the direction of a President and a Clan Chief-Elect along with a Board of Directors and Clan Council who are elected by the Society membership. Various other officers and committee chairs administer the affairs of the Clan. The officers and council meet quarterly. There is also an annual meeting of the general membership.

Members pay nominal annual dues to meet the operating expenses of the Clan. All officers/board members are non paid volunteers. Tax deductible donations of any amount from members are encouraged to help fund the Clan Scholarship Program.

Additional related information can be found in the Membership and Clan By-Laws sections of this web site. Questions related to any aspects of the Clan are invited and can be addressed to the President/Clan Chief by email at cmccord1234@msn.com.
