Dear Prospective Member and family,

On behalf of the MacCord Clan Society, it would be my pleasure to welcome you into the Clan should you wish to join. It is my hope that your participation in the Clan activities will be enjoyable, rewarding, and memorable.

The history of the Clan MacCord is awakening from the dusty bookshelves of times long past and the misty moorlands of our ancestors. Join me in gathering the Clan and its honorable Scottish history for the Resurgence of the MacCord Clan.

An old Gaelic proverb goes, "Remember the Men from whence you came"

I would like to update this to, "Remember the men and women from whence you came, for in the remembering they live once again for you and all those that follow." I could think of no better way to honor our Ancestors than to designate July 4th 2003 as the date to begin the resurgence of the MacCord Clan and set out to gather the Clan MacCord into a Society.

The purposes of the MacCord Clan Society are to honor our Scottish heritage and to instill in others and us an interest in the Scottish traditions and culture, to collect and preserve literary, historical and genealogical records relating to the MacCord Clan and their descendents; have created a Clan Tartan and badge; to see to the publication of literature and the reproduction of art pertaining to the history and traditions of the Clan; to promote the general interests of the MacCords internationally; to cultivate the spirit of kinship and fellowship among all MacCords and associated families; and have the MacCord Clan Society officially recognized by the Council of Scottish Chiefs in Scotland as we have succeeded in doing with the Council of Scottish Clans in America.

We have registered our Tartan, which can be found in many sources including the Tartan Educational Studied Museum.

This is something I could not and cannot do alone, but the Clan members working together CAN!
Please feel free to send your family genealogical information to Don MacCord McCord, 475 N. Main St. Eagleville TN 37060 or Mcc474@cs.com,F615

The Family information you send to the MacCord Clan Society becomes part of an active computer-based MacCord/MacCourt genealogy project. Note: Your membership gives you the added benefit of access to the Clan’s growing database of near thousands of individuals for genealogical inquiries. Don gives members the keys to the database after confirmation of membership. Please remember Don has the burden of a database that is growing all the time but will respond to your requests as time permits. Or send it all with this application to Clan MacCord P.O. Box 576, Meadow Vista CA 95722. All will be forwarded to Don or volunteers helping him. More that 100 branches establish, each with their own historians and activity as each can provide you of their line.

Dues and What will the money collected be used for?

Funds for dues and Clan Items

To Our Overseas Members
The MacCord Clan Society is using the services of the “Bank of America” in order to make it easier for our overseas members to remit their annual dues to the society and to facilitate their purchases from our clan shop in their own currency.

The Bank of America will accept payment by our overseas members by:

1. International bank drafts, checks, or money orders in US dollars drawn from any US affiliated bank. and/or

2. All overseas bank drafts, checks or money orders in currency drawn on the overseas member’s own bank, expressed in terms of the currency of the member's home country.

Thus, a society member who lives in the United Kingdom wishing to remit £10 to the society through their bank, let’s say, the Bank of Scotland, would enter £10 sterling as the amount. An Australian member would enter $A, in the equivalent US amount, and similarly for all other countries. This will be finalized when final approval by the IRS and State of our Incorporation and Bylaws.
